favorite season

I'm up early this morning. We received a fresh, heavy coat of snow. I probably will need to shovel. At least at the end of the driveway, and the sidewalk area, because of snowplows.

What is your favorite time of the year, and why? I have to say Spring is mine. Autumn is next. Then Summer. And finally, Winter. I do like the snow color, especially against the blue sky. One of God's awesome created wonders.

Here in Michigan we have the tulip festival in Holland in May. A wonderful event, though it can be pretty brisk (chilly) then. But to see new life. And the cold more and more dissipate. At least by June, we can be pretty confident of warm weather here.

Ted,

In order -
Spring
Summer
Autumn
Winter

Spring - because I get to look forward to summer.
Summer - because it's fun, kids are off school, vacations,...
Autumn - it's ok, trees changing colors are cool but bagging leaves isn't quite as fun.
Winter - I don't like cold!!!!

Andre, your's is nearly ditto to mine. I do like Summer. Though not the extreme hot days, I admit.

I do like the seasons. Though if I had my way, Winter would be short. Spring and Autumn long. Though a long Winter means we're used to driving in all this ice and salt!

Well, it wasn't as heavy as I thought. But it was fresh. So I really could have stayed in bed another hour. Spring's not far off.

Ted,

Aren't you living in the wrong part of the country if you don't like the cold? ;-)

Andre, Well. I guess it depends on how you look at it. We probably appreciate the warmer weather when it come all the more. And don't take it for granted.

Though I suppose with my wife's discomfort with cold weather, we could settle for something like high 75F, low 50F, everyday. With some negotiations on that. Ha.

Every spring I say, "Spring is my FAVORITE time of year!"
And, every fall I say, "Fall is my FAVORITE time of year!"
I guess I'm fickle.

I did think I liked winter least, until I started going out in below-zero weather, to my secret spot in the back yard.

Now, I am wondering... maybe this "dead" time is more alive than I thought. And this in itself is so enchanting that I may just have to pick winter as my favorite season.

Autumn. I like wearing sweaters and seeing sweaters. I like the memories of going back to school, with the smell of fresh school supplies. I like the colors marking the change of seasons. I like the sound of crunchy leaves that have fallen. I like to look at my lawn and soak-up the satisfaction of having done a good job taking care of it. I like the taste of apple-cider and the delightful aroma of apples and cinnamon candles.

Ohmygosh, don't let's get ahead of ourselves, I gotta wait two whole seasons before we get there!

L.L., Welcome back. Interesting. I'll be interested to hear more on that.

Reminds me of a job I had when one time I had to spray with a water hose outside. It was probably zero weather. Instantly frozen as the water went on me. No feeling at all.

Of course I know that has nothing to do with the point you're getting at. Ha.

Craver,

Thanks for coming and commenting!

You mention all great things about Autumn. I share in your enthusiasm for it. Married to a lady who, though not at all a complainer, still does not like cold at all, makes me lean more towards Spring. But you do raise good reason for Autumn (and I'm further removed from school days than you are, as well!).

I used to say Autumn, but now lean toward Spring.

Julie, Don't mean to overlook you, at all. It is a hard call, isn't it? I don't like extremes in weather, nor does my wife, Deb. Though she doesn't mind the hot as much as I do. We both like Spring and Autumn. That makes me think I need to reask her. She might have even said Summer. Though I'm guessing, Spring for her.

My wife says she likes Summer best. I should have known. She loves what is opposite of cold. Stands to reason!
