prayer for the week: for protection

Almighty God, you know that we have no power in ourselves to help ourselves: Keep us both outwardly in our bodies and inwardly in our souls, that we may be defended from all adversities which may happen to the body, and from all evil thoughts which may assault and hurt the soul; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Beautiful strong words. I could say those hourly. I love written prayer.

This is like a shortened version of "St. Patrick's Breastplate", the prayer he wrote before going before the Druid priest. It's a prayer of protection as well as a confession of his faith in God. It's very long, and had been made into a beautiful hymn with powerful words. We've been discovering it this past week here at our house. Thanks for this that you posted. And Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Lanny,
I'm beginning to as well. I am getting a prayer book soon that I plan to use daily.

Mama K.,
That's so meaningful! Yes, this is a shortened version of that. Wonderfully done, of a wonderful prayer.

Happy St. Patrick's Day to you and yours as well! (I'd like to wear green and orange tomorrow, actually the right shades being two of my favorite colors, anyhow)
