Dad Passed Away

We just received news from Mother that Father passed away peacefully. We trust in the Lord and look forward to our reunion together and the resurrection to come through Jesus Christ our Lord. And thanks in advance for your prayers.

Ted:

How sorry I am to hear of your father. I will be in prayer for you and your family.

I know that you take comfort in the truth we believe, particularly in this season of Easter, that death does not have the last word, and the grave is not our final fate.

May God grant you peace in the midst of your grief.

Thanks to you all for your thoughts here and prayers, and to everyone else as well.

Mom read Dad Scripture his final couple hours. Dad has expressed more than once the desire to go and be with Jesus. God's love in Christ was apparent to us, even through his weakened condition and battle with dementia.

Oh Ted. I am praying for you all as you enter into grief. Yes, we are to be pitied more than all men if the resurrection is not real and a source of comfort during these very hard times.

Dear friends, Thanks so much for all the thoughts and prayers here and elsewhere.

As we in grief hear of the terrible event in our country and others around the world and as I with my family grieve this week, our prayers are renewed, "Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven."

Dad's funeral is Saturday afternoon. May Christ be seen in it all.

Just checking in, to say again, "I'm thinking of you." I hope you feel free to tell us about the funeral and your sense of loss, as the days go by. It must be, for you, the entire center of the universe. And I think God surely knows and understands and grieves with you.

L.L. (and others), Thanks for the kind words. The week did go fast though it was difficult. But we often felt borne/carried through the prayers of others, I know I did. The Lord is good. He gave us grace and peace through his community. We will miss Dad but look forward to our reunion and the resurrection in Christ to come.

And connected to that last comment: I know God took your prayers to help Mom, my two sisters, our entire family and myself through. So that the end result was that God could be glorified in Christ. And we could remember, have reunion with some we haven't seen for a long time, grieve and thank God for his goodness to us in Christ.
