The true indicator of spiritual well-being is growth in the ability to love God and people. If we can do this without the practice of any particular spiritual disciplines, then we should by all means skip them.

Thanks for reading and commenting. Good and interesting on your blog, from "the land down under."
Ortberg's book is about spiritual disciplines, and he and Scot see them as valid since none of us perfectly does love God or others.
I think Ortberg makes an important point here, that the practices are not ends in themselves, or for promoting those who do them, but to help in loving God and others.
