Christians believe that on the third day after he was executed- on Sunday, the first day of the week- Jesus of Nazareth was bodily raised from the dead, leaving an empty tomb behind him. That, primarily, is why we also believe that Jesus's death was not a messy, tragic accident, but the surprising victory of God over all the forces of evil.N.T. Wright, Simply Christian, 111.

Victory - it has a sweet ring to it! One day we also will experience the total victory too - but for now...
He is risen!
Amen, Susan, amen!
I have been re-reading N.T. Wright and discussing that book with some Christian friends. I agree with the quote and yet what a ton of suffering was involved, and what, therefore, a fantastic display of incomprehensible love.
nannykim,
So Very true. And interesting that we in Jesus are called to share in his sufferings in order that we might share in his glory.
