love prevails

It is good when by God's work in Jesus love prevails. I'm not much of a bumper sticker fan, but one bumper sticker I wouldn't mind having on a car (if I had to) says, "Love Wins." Properly understood, that is indeed true.

In the end the love of God inherent in the Trinity, does indeed win. The love of God in Christ, which resulted in God's great redemptive work in him, wins. A love which by faith we can participate in, only because it is real and active, revealed to us in God's final word, Jesus. A love which makes itself known to me everyday, and hopefully through us in Jesus to others.

This is a necessarily short post today, because I overslept, and am still trying to shake the cobwebs off. But what do you think of the "Love Wins" bumper sticker? And what would you like to add here?

My initial thoughts Ted...that's a good way to sum up the Gospel (especially in the Gospel according to John). And then consider John's letters. Love wins! Yep. Agape!

Crowm,
Yes. You're filing in content fast in just those few words. Much on it, but it's true: Love Wins, as you say.

Nancy,
Took me awhile, but I finally did- well into the afternoon! Strange day for me.

Yes, I've seen a number of them around our area.

I like "Love wins"... also, "Hope Wins", "Faith Wins", "Truth Wins","Patience wins", "Jesus Won"... you get what I mean. If I were bumper sticker person, I'd have it covered. But bumper sticker truth can't cover everything, it isn't meant to. And The greatest commandments are about loving God and man. So I think that is a great place to start.

I just get concerned when any truth gets out of balance, and we tend to define love in terms of mercy and compassion, and don't include qualities like justice and truth-telling,which are equally important. It would take a lot of bumper stickers to get all that in, though , and if I had a "love wins" sticker, I'd put it somewhere that I'd be frequently reminded to show Christ's love to whoever is right in front of me.

I saw a girl yesterday with her laptop covered in these, and I liked it!

Mama K,
Good words! Yes, God's love includes his justice and holiness and everything else about him, including his wrath, I believe.

Thanks for sharing that.
