quote: William Shakespeare on what God's people do

Earth gapes, hell burns, fiends roar, saints pray...
Shakespeare, Richard III, Act 4.4, line 75, from Philip Yancey, Prayer: Does It Make Any Difference?, 115

Yes. I wish I had more of an appreciation and knowledge of William Shakespeare. Glad to find that one in Philip Yancey's great book on prayer.

Try reading Julius Caesar, perhaps my favourite. Also Hamlet, Macbeth and Romeo and Juliet are also brilliant.

'The quality of mercy is not strained ..
It droppeth as the gentle rain from heaven ..'

Another nice quote. (Merchant of Venice).

Lorenzo,
Yes, I wish I had read the classics. I haven't, but I guess there's still time.

Thanks for challenging me that direction.

L.L.,
Nice to hear from you.

Yes, indeed. I need a crash course on Shakespeare, though my guess is that like the finest wine, he is an acquired taste.
