quote of the week: C.S. Lewis on the sacredness of humans

Next to the Blessed Sacrament itself, your neighbor is the holiest object presented to your senses.
C.S. Lewis, The Weight of Glory, 14-15, from Scot McKnight, A Companion Guide to Embracing Grace, 23

umh - that's painful. I don't like some of my neighbors!

Yes, Nancy. The older I get, the more I realize just how much good we can receive from C.S. Lewis' writings. I need to work on that.

Susan,
Yes. I know what you mean there.

I should clarify that: I don't like all my "neighbors" either, I'm afraid.

I guess that's in part why we're told that as much as lies in us, or insofar as it's possible by us, to live in peace with everyone.

Ted - it's remarkably similar in theme to my quote of the week on Friday...also by CS Lewis

A sobering thought....lol. Delighted to meet a fellow blogger who enjoys CS Lewis.

Peach,
Yes, C.S. Lewis is definitely one of the most favorite reads of mine. But I have yet to read all he wrote. His books, of course, are not just the kind you read once, but good to reread time and again.

Thanks for stopping by, and you have a nice start to your blog.
